Research Project By: Aaron and Karen Dishno
Project Description:
In the dissertation
The Development and Validation of the University Student Housing Application and Student Matching and Placement Methodology,
the student housing application was developed and validated by housing experts currently working at universities throughout
the United States. The final product consists of 43 question elements that should be included on the housing application at
every college and university. Sixteen of the questions were deemed "information only" such as name, student ID, address,
emergency contact information, etc. The remaining question elements are considered relevant information for matching students
in dorm rooms. The complete list of question elements can be seen in appendix 17 on page 232 of the dissertation.
This study asks students to validate the Housing Expert version of the Student Housing Application.
The goals of the study are to determine:
- Are there any Question Elements on the Student Housing Application that should be added, removed, or changed from the Housing Expert validated version?
- How do students rank the question elements weight when finding a roommate match? (For each Question, select Must Match (4), Should Match (3), Can Match (2), May Match(1), and Information Only(0).)
- How do students prioritize the Question Elements? (Which questions are more important than others?)
